OPEN! International (Video) Workshop for Students
Co-Creating For Cultural Sensitivity – International (Video) Workshop for Students
We invite students from different universities and programmes to team up in this CultSense challenge!
Deadline for registration: 14 May 2023.
What and When?
The CultSense Project Team (www.cultsense.com) invites Bachelor’s and Master’s students to participate in the conference “Bridging Cultures Through Travel: From Theory to Practice”, on June 14-15 2023, taking place at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (the Netherlands), with a parallel student-oriented program. The CultSense project “Sensitizing Young Travellers for Local Cultures”, funded by the Erasmus+ programme, believes that education plays a significant role in making the future of tourism more sustainable, and a richer experience for all involved, both visitors and hosts.
How?
Students will work in pairs/teams, interviewing delegates and making film snippets from the conference. A final video will be processed with the recorded material in the Education Lab and Studio on the campus of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The process and the result will be presented at the end of the conference to an international audience.
Why?
Do you like to know about other cultures? Do you like travelling?
In this conference, a joint venture of the CultSense project and the ATLAS Special Interest Group on Cultural Tourism, we will further explore ways to bridge cultures via travel. By working directly with young travellers, the project aims to raise awareness of the importance of responsible and respectful behaviour towards local communities.
The student workshop is designed to promote interest in research among students and provide opportunities for networking with other students as well as researchers and lecturers. Rotterdam is also a melting pot of different cultures!
In addition, there is the opportunity to submit an abstract for papers, cases and posters related to the conference’s sub-themes. Please see more information and our Call for Papers, with the deadline for submission of 15 February 2023, on the ATLAS website. The submission of abstracts is already possible here!
As a student, you are eligible for a Grant to cover your conference fee. There is a limited number of Grants.
